Every great adventure has an origin story - here's ours
Where Legends Rest and Adventures Begin
Honestly, it all began with a crazy dream and a whole lot of passion for making fantasy feel real
Look, I'm gonna level with you - our founder, Marcus Thornheart, was basically a burned-out tech exec who'd spent way too many years in corporate boardrooms. One winter, he came to Whistler for a gaming convention and had this wild epiphany while hiking through the mountains at dawn.
The peaks looked like dragon scales catching the sunrise. That's when it hit him - what if there was a place where people could actually live inside the fantasy worlds they loved? Not just visit for a day, but really immerse themselves in something magical.
Next two years were kinda insane. Marcus teamed up with award-winning fantasy artists, architects who specialized in themed environments, and hospitality veterans who actually "got" what he was trying to do. They sketched concepts on napkins at gaming cafes, built miniature models, and probably drank way too much coffee.
The name "Mythral Forgeverse" came from Marcus's old D&D campaign - seemed fitting for a place that'd be forged from pure imagination and built to last like mythral itself.
Opening day was something else. We invited fantasy authors, cosplayers, and just regular folks who'd been following our journey online. There were maybe a few happy tears (okay, a lot of them) when guests walked into their first themed suite and realized this wasn't just another hotel with some themed wallpaper.
The Dragon's Hearth served its first feast, our spa welcomed its first weary adventurers, and the mountains witnessed the birth of something truly unique in the hospitality world.
Fast forward to 2025, and we've hosted thousands of guests from all over the world. We've been the backdrop for marriage proposals (including one full LARP ceremony), gaming tournaments, writer retreats, and just regular vacations where people want something more than generic hotel vibes.
But honestly? We're just getting started. Every guest adds to our story, and we're always cooking up new experiences, refining our suites, and pushing what's possible when you blend luxury hospitality with pure imagination.
These aren't just corporate values we slapped on a wall - they're genuinely what guides us every single day
Half-measures just don't cut it. If we're gonna do fantasy-themed, we're going all the way. Every detail matters, from the door handles to the breakfast presentation. We're not here to be a regular hotel with dragon stickers.
Whether you're a hardcore tabletop gamer, a fantasy novel enthusiast, or just someone who thinks dragons are cool - you belong here. We've built this place to be a gathering point for kindred spirits, no gatekeeping allowed.
Yeah, we're a luxury resort, but we're not stuffy about it. You can show up in cosplay or casual wear - we honestly don't care. What we do care about is making sure your stay is flawless, comfortable, and memorable.
We're constantly asking "what if?" and "why not?" New suite themes, cutting-edge spa treatments, unique dining experiences - if it enhances the fantasy and serves our guests, we're probably already testing it out.
We're literally surrounded by some of the most beautiful wilderness on Earth. Taking care of these mountains isn't optional - it's sacred. Sustainability and environmental stewardship are woven into everything we do here.
The best moments aren't always the big, flashy ones. Sometimes it's the handwritten quest scroll with your room service, or the way the morning light hits the stained glass. We sweat the small stuff so you can feel the magic.
Our crew's pretty amazing, not gonna lie. Here are a few of the folks who make this place run
Founder & Keeper of Legends
Former tech exec turned dream-chaser. Still runs a weekly D&D game in the Dragon's Hearth lounge and personally greets convention groups. You'll probably see him around - he's the one who can't stop talking about his next big idea.
Spa & Wellness Enchantress
Twenty years in luxury spas, but she says this is the first place she's worked where "healing potions" are actually on the menu. She's basically a wizard when it comes to relaxation, and her team shares that same passion for wellness.
Master of the Dragon's Hearth
Trained in Michelin-starred kitchens across Europe, then decided fancy French food needed more dragon fruit and medieval presentation. His "Tavern Feast" tasting menu is legendary, and yes, he does actually have a magnificent beard.
Chief Quest Planner
Heads up our concierge team and honestly knows more about Whistler's hidden gems than Google Maps. Whether you need restaurant reservations or a surprise proposal setup, Lyra's your person. She's basically solved the impossible daily for years.
Convention & Events Mastermind
Former professional LARPer (yeah, that's a thing) who now coordinates everything from intimate gaming sessions to massive fantasy conventions. If your event needs to be epic, Theron's got the blueprint and the enthusiasm to match.
Lead Mountain Guide
Grew up climbing these peaks and knows every trail, view, and secret spot worth seeing. She leads our adventure tours and somehow makes even nervous first-timers feel like confident explorers. Also tells the best campfire stories, hands down.
From our housekeeping crew who leave origami dragons with your fresh towels, to our front desk staff who greet you like old friends, to our kitchen team who plate every dish like it's going to a royal banquet - everyone here genuinely cares about making your stay unforgettable. It's not corporate talk, it's just how we roll.
